Quedlinburg

Its been 2 and a half years in Germany, Europe and I found out that I dont really travel alot. hmm; Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, Mallorca Island, Köln, Bremen, Hamburg, Dresden, Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris and Prague. It seems like I have gone to many places, indeed only 4 countries; Germany, Czech Republic, Spain and France. Anyway, I will be going to have a summer trip this coming end of July, after my torturing 4th sem final exam. hmm, i m gonnaa exploring places like Bavaria state, Vienna and Edinburg as well.

Just forget about the summer trip :D and talk about my recent trip to Quedlinburg. One of the reasons I like to travel  is I wanna explore more, I dont want to spend my weekend in just sitting in front of computer for a whole day long, playing games, thats not healthy :D Thats why, I asked one my friends whether she had any plan or trip or whatever, and she decided to go to a place called Quedlinburg( our destination was suggested by her friend and she just planned it, whatever, I just followed). Never heard about this town name, and I didnt care, coz I just like to go to a place where I have never been to.

SO, I just follow the trip, 5 people including me went to Quedlinburg, IT IS IN UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST....
Well, it took 4 hours to reach there from Dresden, had to changed 3 different trains. If I could have knewn that the place is far away from Dresden, maybe I wont follow them, harrrr, anyway, playing cards in the trains is a good idea to get rid of boredom.

I guess most of the buildings there have been built in Medieval Age, maybe about 600years ago, I dont know la..If wanna get the information about Quedlinburg history bla bla bla, just go to wikipedia and type quedlinburg. I think the place is very adequate for old people( OK, IT MEANS, NO YOUNG PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO STAY THERE).... true, the kampung is full of old people. The shops are closed at 5.30pm and There are no Aldi, REWE, Netto and etc. Just forget about Saturn and Media Markt. The last train is at 8pm(if not mistaken)....

Mallorca (Spain)

Why we were here??? :P Initially, we wanted to travel to Madrid and Barcelona only but because the flight  from Weeze Airport (Ger) to Mallorca(spain) was cheaper as compared to other cities. So, we decided to have trip in Mallorca first, then to Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona.

Location =
Accomodation = we stayed in HOTEL, wooo, not because we are rich or what; it was quite cheap laaa, around 20euro per night. However, its fxxking far away from the main city; journey to main city, Palma by bus takes approximately 50 min!!! the advantage of this hotel is that it is located around 150meter from the beach.

hotel....
view from my hotel

Currency= Mallorca belongs to Spain and so Euro is used here, no worries :D
forget about ringgit msia in this photo ;P

Food = When we talk about spanish cuisine, surely Tapas will appear in our mind. Tapas is so called  spanish "Dim Sum" as it is served with small plate. Yea, we were desperately finding Tapas in Palma and worst thing happened as we ordered wrong tapas or what I can say is that we entered the wrong restaurant. there were only asian style Tapas in the restaurant! Popiah, sushi and so on were our dinner = =

asian style tapas = =mexican spicy food

Language = hehe, I am not sure whether english is spoken widely there coz we didnt use english there at all. Why?? Because many people there can speak german besides spanish(I cant) :D

Public transport = there are buses and trains in mallorca but I think its better if we are able to loan a car. Reason=There are certain beautiful places where we cannot go there by public transport.

waiting for bus

Tourist attraction = we have just been there for 2 days 1 night without proper planning and thats why we just simply travelled to places without understanding the building name and history; just took photos and inhale the oxygen there :D
Anyway, there are undoubtedly a large number of fine white sandy beaches :D

What we need to know before travelling to PRAGUE

1. the currency of Czech Republic isnt Euro but Crowns. Euro is accepted in certain places in Prague but its better to have some money exchanged before departing to Prague. 1 Euro = around 24.8 CZK(Crowns).
 200 CZK ......................................................................................

2. try to have some coins in your pocket coz the public ticket machines only accept coins. There are ticket counters where u can get ticket there but they open only for certain time.
coins, they say 2kc instead of 2cents and bla bla bla.....

3. dont expect that english is quite useful there. I mean, for example, majority of restaurants only provide menu in Czech language and majority of the people there cant/dont speak english(from my experience)...at train station in certain places such as Decin, you cant find any english words on signboard, plan and so on but only Czech and German.

platform name is written in Czech and German ....in Decin train station

4. learn some simple Czech words;  thank you = dyeeky
                                                       hello = dobree den
                                                       good bye = nas-hledanou
                                                       beer = pivo
                                                       please = proseem

5. if you travel to certain places by metro without buying ticket, please be aware that "ticket controllers" dont check your ticket in the train(i m not sure) but they are surely waiting outside, in front of the escalator. BETTER BUY TICKET LAA. its not expensive, daily ticket costs only around 5euro. Never ever use taxi, they will "kill you gao gao". metro train(Sun-Thu until 00:00,  Fri-Sat until 1am), buses and trams are available for 24 hours!!!!

24 hours public transport ticket

6. if you wanna drink beer or wanna have some conversation with people in bar or cafe, please open your eyes widely and try to understand the name of bars and pubs before entering. If you see something such as "erotik" and something related with sex, better dont go, you will surely be shock :P

7. if you are departing to Prague from other nearby cities such as Liberec(Czech), Budapest(Hungary), Berlin(Ger), Wroclaw(Poland) and so on, its faster(i think so) and cheaper(from my experience) if you go by bus instead of train. I was going to Prague from Dresden by train(15euro, I have Sachsen sem ticket!) but the problem was it took 5 hours as I had to wait for the train to Prague at Decin for almost 2 hours. Thats why i decided to use bus to go back to Dresden(15euro too + movie and radio!!) and took only 2.30hours!!!

8. If you are student from Sachsen state in Germany, you are recommended to get to Prague by doing so = -take a train to Bad Schandau(Ger), free, if you have semester ticket
                      -then buy a ticket from Bad Schandau ===> Decin (Czech)  not free, price= 6-9euro
                      -Decin===>Prague, buy ticket at the counter with crowns (around 5 euro), CHEAP!!!
                      the journey from Decin to Prague takes you around 2 hours. THE TRAIN TRAVELS ALONG THE ELBE RIVER FOR THE WHOLE JOURNEY AND THE VIEW OUTSIDE IS TRANQUIL AND BEAUTIFUL!!
ticket(from decin to prague), all in Czech = =, dont understand........
at Bad Schandau station(Ger), waiting 4 the train to Praha)

Decin train station...............

 dont sleep in the train(decin -->prague) la, coz you will miss the chance to see pretty girls who sit with you ;D
Prague main station (Praha Hlavni-nadrazi)

8. before going to Prague, you have to find where you are gonna stay. you have to consider these;
     youth hostel, or apartment or hotel? price? location, izzit close to metro station and main attraction as well?
   As a student, youth hostel is a good choice for us, because its much cheaper and we are able to get to know friends from all over the world. choose hostel which show you how to get there. If you have no idea how to get there, dont you hope that the tourist information is able to help you.  "i" ONLY OPENS UNTIL 4.30pm IF NOT MISTAKEN.

ADVANTAGE HOSTEL (youth hostel),  d dormitory where i stayed overnite there.

9. if you have choice to pay either in Euro or Crowns in restaurant and so on, please pay in Crowns, coz from my experience(1 meal = 10.50euro or 249CZK), while 249CZK= 10 euro, tat means if you pay in Crowns, you save 50cents euro.

10. if you are going for money exchange in Prague, look at the rates carefully, sometimes, you can only get good rates if you exchange 200euro and more.

11. its recommended to leave about 20 CZK as a tip in restaurant

12. the "main station" is called as hlavní nádraží in czech.

13. there is FREE TOUR in Prague in english and spanish language as well. the tour starts at 11am and also 2pm.You have to gather in front of astronomical clock at old town. You will see a few people wearing yellow shirt and carrying yellow umbrella, they are you tour guide.

man in yellow shirt  = my tour guide
